We should have more time in a day. These next two weeks are going to be really stressful and this week I have absolutely no time to write a full blog. So, have an awesome week, and if you have ANY questions about Gtown email me at tlloyd0@georgetowncollege.edu.

PS: This what the last two weeks of the semester does to you!!

New Things

Hey everyone!!

I have no clue where to begin this week, but here we go....

Throughout the week, I caught up on my studies, met new people, gained friendships, and received a new roommate.

On Friday, I went to the basketball tournament here on campus, it was a great time, and of course GC won girls and boys. The men's basketball games are a lot more exciting for me than the girls, but I support both because I just love basketball. Unfortunately, I had to go work at the REC (the fitness and recreation center) here, for like an hour. Then I went back to the basketball game. After the game, I went to play Mafia in the chapel, sponsored by GAC (Georgetown Activities Council). They plan all the fun activities that we have here on campus. Playing Mafia in the chapel is really scary. We played from like 10PM-1AM. It was really fun. Then I went back to my room and attempted to watch a movie. Definitely didn't actually watch the movie because I was really tired. I woke up at like 4AM and turned the DVD player off.

On Saturday, I had to wake up really early because the band had to play for the VIP day (Visit in Person Day), perfect time to tour campus and meet students and professors. I definitely wasn't awake, so I had to get a cup of coffee, bad idea. After one cup, I went crazy; I completely forgot how sensitive i was to caffeine.

After the band brunch we had, my plan was to go back to my room to take a nap before the game because I had to play at that to. So I go back to my room, and right as I close my eyes I get a knock on my door and it was Grant. Grant was like, "Hey man did Ticha (RD of Anderson) tell you I'm moving in here? Is that ok?" I was like, "Yeah. Sure man." So I got a new roommate. I was pretty excited. Even though I got acquainted with being by myself, I'm glad I got a roommate because it could get lonely at times. Plus, my roommate is someone that I know and he's like one of my best friends here at GC! So my recommendation to every student who is think about attending Georgetown, either room with someone you already know or really get to know your roommate before you come to Georgetown. I thought I knew my roommate at the beginning of this year because I communicated with him a lot before I came to Georgetown, but he was the complete opposite of what I expected. It’s rare to never talk to your roomate before you come here and all of sudden y'all are best friends.

So, after the football game, which we won of course, I chilled in my room then I went to watch some more GC basketball here on campus because of the tournament. After the tournament my bro, Z. Bizzle bought "Call of Duty, Black Ops". I don't really play action games but it was awesome! We played until like 2AM and I completely forgot it was Saturday and we had church the next day.

After church on Sunday, I went to the music building to practice a ton because I had a big piano test on Monday. Now, on Sunday night, I played Ultimate Frisbee in the REC for the FIRST TIME and it was awesome!! After playing ultimate for 2 hrs I went to shower and my plan was to go to sleep. That didn't happen. Definitely went to HONGS at 2AM and didn't get back to GC until 3AM, and I had a 9:00 class this morning :( but other than the waking up early it was an awesome end to a really great weekend.

Ok, well that's all I have for this week, I'm really excited to go home next week!! :)

Zach Galifianakis: "You better check yourself before you wreck yourself."- Due Date

So, I found out my thesis paper for foundations is due on Wednesday, even though I have 3 of the 5 pages done I still don't think it’s that good.

On Friday, I only had 3 classes (music theory, foundations, and band) and work which were great. After band, I went to Doc Pete's house for a strategic meeting, I was the only freshmen there, and I felt pretty honored. That's the type of relationships you develop with your professors here at GC, they will welcome you into their homes. After the meeting we had to play at the girls’ basketball game. We obviously won again (LET'S GO GC!). It was my first basketball game experience with the grrr....band. It was great. I'm pretty sure the opposing team wanted to kill us after we were very annoying and loud. We kept saying, "dribble, dribble, PASS, PASS" and every time they shot the ball we screamed. We made fun of the coach, especially when he gave plays out,  but I digress. After the game, I was very tired and it was freezing too. That was the first time it snowed here. It was nice but I wasn't prepared for it. I only brought two jackets up here, none of which help my freezing situation.

Saturday, I woke up at like 12, and had brunch with some friends. Then I went back to my room and talked to my mom for like 45 minutes. It was great. I had to get off the phone because LSU was coming on and I can't talk to her and focus on the game at the same time. LSU obviously won, we are definitely going to the National Championship this year. GEAUX TIGERS! I found out that GC won also and we are MSC Champions now! I went to dinner with my bro Z. Bizzle. After dinner we tried to study in the LRC but they were closing as we walked in so we went to Asher (math and science building) to study. If you are thinking about math or a science major you will spend most of your time in there. We stayed in there for like 3 hours studying and doing papers. I got a call from Evan at about 7:00, asking me if I knew where my friend Cody was, I obviously didn't know. So I went looking for him. He was locked out of his room. It kind of sucked for him because he was supposed to be playing with the Lexington Philharmonic for the opera we had on campus (which I heard was really good). After that I was going to get pizza and DQ with Cameron, Z. Bizzle, and Big John. I didn't go because I went to see Due Date, which is the best movie of 2010. It was very funny; I didn't know Robert Downey Jr. was that funny. The best part was sitting next to the loudest guy in the entire theater, I laughed at him more than the entire movie.

On Sunday, I said this was going to be my productive day, and it kind of was. After getting out of church at GBC (Georgetown Baptist Church), I went to brunch with some friends then I went to the LRC (the library) and finished almost half of my thesis paper, I was really proud of myself. I went back to my room and watch some NFL games, and of course WHO DAT? Nation received another win; we might be on our way to another Super Bowl. I was really happy when I saw the Cowboys loose again. It's great saying, "HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS?" to my friends in Texas! I missed the cafe for dinner so I went to the Grille and ate with Sizemore for a little while, then I went back to Big John and Z. Bizzle's room to watch Sweeney Todd (which is one strange movie) and Get Him to the Greek (hilarious movie).

Well that's how my weekend went; now if I can get through these next two weeks of college, I will be golden. I have a lot of meetings, test, and papers this week. This is also the week we do our class schedules for next semester, 18 hrs. here I come. I'm pretty excited to go home for Thanksgiving; hopefully I'll be a vegetarian when I get back to G-Town!

That's all I have, until next week....

Halloween/Family Weekend at GC!

Well this week was a pretty busy week, lots of studying, so that the weekend would be wide open for fun things to do. Earlier in the week, Ticha(RD in Anderson, great guy) talked to me about organizing a Spring Break Mission Trip to Louisiana. I thought that was pretty awesome! I'm very excited about that. On Thursday, after a bunch of meetings and tutoring, it was time to relax and have fun, so I went to the Knight/Anderson Hall Mixer. I had a great time there. Then I watched a little bit of Boondock Saints (one of the best movies ever) with Grant, Zac, and Hannah(my FFG mom) before I had to go help set up for the Haunted House which was on Friday night.

On Friday, I had to wake up early in the morning to play for elementary school kids. I got a kick out of that. Those elementary school kids thought they were at a rock concert, they were banging there heads, among other things. Definitely worth waking up at 7:00AM. When we left they were like, "you guys ROCK!" I also got to miss class to! :) I talked to my music theory professor/adviser about making Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia (music fraternity) active again here at GC. This fraternity you don't have to play an instrument you just have to have an interest in some type of music, its also a great way to put GC School of Music on the map. Then, at about 6:00 we started to get ready for the haunted house, I was so excited. I had fun putting all that blood on myself. After about 20 minutes my entire body was sticky because we made blood out of corn syrup, chocolate syrup, and red food coloring, bad combination. On the bright side, I got some awesome pictures and I scared a ton of my friends. :)
I didn't go to sleep until 3:00AM and I had to wake up early again to play for VIP (Visit in Person) Day here at GC. I strongly recommend doing the VIP day, they give you lots of information about GC, you get to tour the entire campus and see how awesome GC is. I was really happy to talk to some high school seniors and there parents as they toured the dorms on Saturday, tell them about GC. I actually woke up late to go play for VIP day, but its all gravy. Then we had the football game, and after screaming all night at the haunted house, and at the football game,(because that's just what I do) I almost lost my voice. We obviously won again, I mean come on its gtown (just kidding)! I was so exhausted after all of that, I just relaxed for the rest of the day, watched some more college football!

On Sunday, I went to church at Georgetown Baptist Church (right down the street from GC)! It was a great service, after that I went to brunch with some friends, talked, socialized, its what I do best. I went to the music building and practiced for like an hour, because I'm trying out the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps (DCI), if you know about that. Then I watched some NFL football, I was excited to see the COWBOYS loose again and the SAINTS winning!! WHO DAT!! I went to Walmart and spent to much money, but since I have a double occupancy room to myself, I'm starting to put more stuff in it, which is awesome, can't wait until its done. I went to see one of my best friends (Jay Bomb) in his play "The Doctor In spite of Himself". It was an awesome play and very very funny. I just watched movies for the rest of night with some friends before going to sleep.

If you guys have any questions about GC, you can email me at tlloyd0@georgetowncollege.edu, but other then that, that's all I have for this week, time for foundations!

Good Week at GC!

Hi everyone! Well this week was an interesting. I tried my hardest to be very productive and get all of my homework done so that on the weekend I can just relax and hangout. It all worked out. On Thursday, I had a Bishops Scholars meeting. The Bishop Scholars Program allows select students the honor of carrying on the tradition of Bishop Alumni and keeping the legacy of Bishop College alive.
The Program became a reality by Georgetown College adopting 7,000 Bishop College alumni of the now closed Bishop College of Dallas, Texas, a noted historically black college until 1988.
The partnership between Georgetown College and Bishop College allows Bishop Alumni legacies to obtain a first-class liberal arts education and be recognized as a Bishop Legacy Scholar or Bishop Scholar.
When I first meet people it takes me a few weeks to get use to them. I would say this was the week that I got use to the Bishop Scholars here on campus. On Friday, Zac, Big John and Shawn went home and they are basically my ‘hangout’ friends so I had to improvise on what to do that night. I worked at The Rec (which is the easiest job on campus). Then I went to go check out the battle of the bands on campus, and I saw one of my RAs (Resident Assistants), Cameron. He loves to play basketball, so we went back to The Rec and played. I haven’t played basketball in like 2 months, so of course I wasn’t any good. Good thing we didn’t keep score. So by this time its midnight, and he was like, “you want to go to Hongs at 2AM” I was like, "Sure, why not. I’m not tired or anything." So at 2AM, Cameron, Eddie, Philip, and I went to Hongs for some donuts. It was great! Nothing like eating donuts when you’re half asleep. Cody and I also attempted to go to Lexington at about 5:30 but we didn’t think through the traffic situation. That was an epic failure on our part.
I woke up at about 12:00 on Saturday and my first words were, “HONGS!” which was still really good. I watched college football, basically for the entire day and talked to some friends from back home. That was very exciting. I was kind of mad that my LSU lost, but it’s okay. We will bounce back and win the SEC Championship and the National Championship!! On the bright side GC won, keeping our playoff hopes alive!!
Let’s go GC!
On Sunday, my plan was to go to Georgetown Baptist Church down the street from campus, but there was some Bishop Scholars outside of The Grille going to a church in Bracktown, KY called First Baptist Church of Bracktown, so I was like "Yeah sure why not." I had an awesome time at that church plus they fed us some good food. Got to love being a college student. Everyone wants to feed you. I think I’m going to go back there next Sunday, not just because of the food but also the church service was awesome to. When I got back from church, I realized my Saints were losing to the Cleveland Browns. I was just like "Are you kidding me! They are like the worse team in the NFL!" Of course we lost. It is indeed a sad day in WHO DAT? Nation, but don’t worry we will bounce back from that. It’s all gravy. I was really excited to see Grant, Big John, and Shawn back late yesterday. I went to the JV basketball game here on campus. It was a pretty good game. Then I just chilled for the rest of the day. I was pretty tired so I couldn’t go to Applebee’s with my FFG family. FFG, Freshman Family Groups, are one of the easiest and most common ways freshmen or new students can get involved on campus. FFG will consist of 12 small groups made up of freshmen or 1st year students. Each group is led by an upper class male and female. The group meets to have Bible studies, provide support & encouragement to one another, eat together, and do other fun activities together. I totally recommend this to you once you arrive on campus. It's a great way to meet even more people here on campus. So I tried to go to bed at like 11, because like I said, I was incredibly tired. It didn’t work out because certain people love playing there music at that time. So I went to go watch movies in tiger den (basement) of Knight Hall (freshmen girls dorm) with some friends until like 3. Then I finally got to go to sleep, I was very happy then.
And that’s how this week went for me here at Georgetown. Since 3 of my 5 classes were cancelled today I’m going to go get homework done that’s due tomorrow and Wednesday and then nap until 4:00 which is my next class!

Awesome Week!

Oh where do I begin, Homecoming at Georgetown is very exciting from Songfest to the football game and then to the homecoming dances the different fraternities and other organizations host every year.

On Thursday, we had Songfest dress rehearsal which was absolutely funny. If you decide to come to Georgetown, definitely go to the dress rehearsal, that's when all of the students go and the fraternities, sororities, and residence halls have the most fun. That was the only time that I could go and see it live because I was apart of Songfest for my residence hall, which for the third year in a row Anderson won an award! Even though homecoming is really exciting its also kind of hectic on campus to, but sometime hectic is good. On Friday, was actually Songfest an it was even better on Friday, the coolest thing that I saw was at the end of Songfest seeing all of the Greek organizations doing there Circle ups in front of the chapel that was really cool.

On Saturday, we had the football game, which was very exciting, during the first half it was kind of shaky, but gtown pulled through once again, it was a really good game. We are 4-2 now, I hope we make it to the playoffs this year, that would be really fun. So after the game, I went back to campus and had dinner with some friends then I chilled until the PHA's homecoming dance. The dance was awesome, I haven't danced like that in a long time, it was a good way to end a pretty hectic week to, got to hang with some friends and meet some new people also.

On Sunday, I preached at a church in Midway, I was really nervous that it wouldn't go well, because my laptop crashed on Friday with my full sermon on it, so I had to rewrite the entire thing in the short amount of time I had because of homecoming activities. I had like 15 friends there to support me, which was very awesome. I was very thankful for them being there and supporting me. Being so far from home, it's really awesome to have so many friends that I haven't been homesick yet. If you decide to come to GC, trust me you will make tons of friends, it's such a small campus that everybody knows you, just like a family.

Well its time to get back to some homework!

Awesome Fall Break!!!!

Hey Guys!!

So where do I begin, after classes on Wednesday, I just hung out with friends forever, even though I was tired on Thursday. I really didn't care because it was fall break, and I was going to have an awesome time. On Thursday around 2:00 we left for the GC vs. Campbellsville game, which we won obviously!

Lets go GC!

After leaving there, was the beginning of my Fall Break Road Trip 2010!! It started in Bowling Green. On the way there we laughed our butts off because we were that tired and basically everything was funny. Once we got to Bowling Green, we crashed at Zac's house. That was pretty awesome! All of us slept on couches. Apparently in the middle of the night Zac talks in his sleep. He kept saying jellybeans. When I found that out I couldn't stop laughing at all. We woke up the next day and I still was tired. I couldn't even turn on the shower. I felt like a dummy going back into the room like, "Zac how do you turn on the shower?", embarrassing. So after we got dressed, we went to Cracker Barrel with Zac's family. His mom is so funny! I see where Zac gets his sense of humor, and of course the guys had to bring up that I was a vegetarian again and that it was because of a girl (which it is not by the way). Zac's mom believed them, plus she kept calling this one guy named Rashad, T-Rod! So after all of that we just chilled in Bowling Green for the rest of the day, hitting up the mall and this really good Japanese place. Some cheap food too.

So after staying in BG until Friday, we headed over to Paducah (p-town) which was an adventure again. Grant's family was just so welcoming and Grant said that he had a huge dog. I had a couple of bad experiences with huge dogs when I was little so I was a little terrified to go into his house, but turns out, he had two little puppies. I was just like wow! And John had a great time with the dogs. If you could imagine a 6'8 guy running around with little puppies, saying who's your boogie boogie, it was quite entertaining.

So the next day we went to some really awesome music stores, I love little music stores. You find stuff that you wouldn't find at Guitar Center or somewhere else. Then we went to eat at Grant's family restaurant (which was a BBQ restaurant). I was so proud of myself for resisting the meat that surrounded me in that place. I got a vegetable hoagie, and it was pretty good. But I kept looking at the guys food and I wanted it so badly, but something in my head told me not to eat it, so I resisted.

We then went to Grant's uncle's farm, and we got to shoot guns, and sling shots at pumpkins. That was awesome! I even have video on my phone of me and the guys shooting, which I won't put up on here because when I shot, I almost hit the ground. It was really funny, never thought I would do something like that. But other than that embarrassment, I had an awesome time at the bonfire that night.

I am still really tired from the weekend, but it was awesome, no joke. Now, I have to catch up on homework and more extra curricular stuff, and plus its homecoming week, so I'm really excited for this week. Friday is songfest, Saturday is the football game, and then Sunday I'm preaching at a church in Midway, even though its going to be a busy weekend its going to be really really fun!

Well, its about that time because Foundation is about to start (gotta love foundations)!

Go Tigers!

Something New!

Hey again!

This week Kentucky and I became well acquainted with each other. I would have never thought it would this cool in October, its suppose to be like 80 degrees right now. The first day I was like oh, this is unusual, but now, that its been a week, I'm starting to adjust, it actually feels really good outside, I'm excited for winter now.

So, this past week was my first week as a vegetarian! I'm actually really excited about this, my friends think I'm crazy and I'm doing this because of a girl, which I would never do, thats just crazy. I mean just because I smiled when they said that doesn't mean anything.

I had my first grr...band experience last week at the first home football game, going from a high school national champion marching band of 300 members this was definitely a huge culture shock, but I'm embracing it. I had a really good time at the football game, there was a lot of people there to support the football team to. We obviously won!

Lets go GC!

Then on Friday, the band participated in festival of the horse parade, I didn't actually play, I stood in the band van and waved, that was a little entertaining, I felt like the president. I was amazed at the amount of people there for a festival dedicated to horses. I really have no room to talk because in New Orleans they basically have a festival for every seafood that you can name, gotta love New Orleans!

Fall Break is almost here!!

This is going to be a pretty chill week for me, 3 days of classes then road trip to Western Kentucky with some friends, can't wait. I'm sure I'll have lots of stories to tell when I get back from that. Hopefully, I'll still be a vegetarian after the trip, Grant's family owns a bbq restaurant so there is meat everywhere :( I wish I could go home and see friends, but the road trip actually sounds more exciting, just saying.

Well until next week, T. Lloyd out!!

Hello future Tigers!

My name is Tevin Lloyd, but call me T. Lloyd, and I am an incoming freshmen with a major in Music Education and a minor in youth ministry here at GC!

I'm originally from New Orleans, but I moved to Hurst, Texas (which is in between Dallas and Fort Worth) due to Hurricane Katrina. My family is kind of spread out all over, which kind of sucks, but when I see them its very very special.

I'm from one of the best high schools in the state of Texas, LD Bell!! I was in band, and my senior year I was a drum major. You might ask how did I find out about G-Town, well.... I'm a licensed minister ever since I was 16 yrs old, and my pastor told me about Georgetown and how its a great place for young ministers,so I started looking into it, and it seemed like a really cool place to be, so I applied, then a few months later, I was accepted!!

Along the way I was thinking in my head why I was going all the way to Kentucky for school, but I told myself to give it a try and if I didn't like it I could always transfer(definitely not transferring). I thought I was going to be miserable, being in Kentucky, not knowing anyone at all, but I love it, I met so many new people and I already developed some really close friends(Zac,Grant,Lil John, Big John), who I feel that I can tell anything! All of them are interesting and unique in different ways!

I want to be very involved in campus, after like the first 3 weeks of school, I became Intramural and Homecoming chair for Anderson Hall (the freshmen mens dorm), and a SGA senator! So if you think, its really hard to get involved, you're wrong, its very easy!

Well that's all I have for now, I'll post next week again!

Lets go GC!
